Work With Me Home Book Marika
01The Artist

Before I glitched my way into tech…

I was a singer-songwriter, sharing stages with artists including Kylie Minogue, Nile Rodgers and Sam Smith. I even had the incredible opportunity to be mentored by Beyoncé's dad in Houston, Texas, for Channel 4's Chancers, developing my songwriting and performance skills alongside Solange and Kelly Rowland.

When I returned to the UK and completed my studies at the University of Chester, I realised the rhythm of the world had changed. Technology was transforming how we live, work and connect. It was time to evolve or get left behind.

If you ask whether I still sing today, the answer is yes.

I'll always be an artist. Creativity shapes how I think, how I solve problems, and how I connect ideas across different worlds. Music was my first love, and my voice remains my instrument.

02The Tech Leader

Inspired by a fox.

Not just any fox…

One evening, I happened to catch Baroness Martha Lane Fox on the BBC speaking about the UK's digital skills gap.

At the time, I was unemployed, uninspired and unsure of my next chapter. Listening to her felt like she was speaking directly to me. That talk became the spark that changed everything.

I went on to lead digital skills campaigns and collaborate with some of the world's leading technology organisations. At the West Midlands Combined Authority, I led the Digital Skills Partnership, working alongside Microsoft, Google, Amazon and government partners to improve digital inclusion and skills across the region.

Later, as a Business Manager at Microsoft, I worked across government, policy, academia and media, seeing first-hand the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change.

Along the way I've mentored founders, judged competitions for Tech Nation Rising Stars and Aston Business School, and co-authored the Education & Allyship Playbook with Tech Talent Charter to help create more inclusive workplaces in technology.

And honestly? The journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

A student of life.

I've always been fascinated by what's next.

Driven by curiosity and my creative roots, I've continued to upskill in areas including data analytics, machine learning and immersive technologies.

Today, I lead a portfolio career spanning strategy, speaking and entrepreneurship. My work explores the intersection of technology, leadership and human potential. I work with people and organisations navigating AI, innovation and workforce transformation, helping them prepare for what's next without losing sight of what makes us human.

The future belongs to those willing to evolve without losing sight of who they are.
